
Yet despite wasting lots of time poking around, I can't seem to find anyway to adjust the color setting to make the colors look more natural. Re your suggestion on personalization - it 'sorted' worked but I noticed the option for Start, Taskbar & Action Centre was greyed out and I couldn't change this. Having reinstalled everything I noticed the BG colours weren't right and almost created a new set of problems. I was so sick of it all that I decided to take this nuclear option and found that it loaded Win 10. The general consensus from the various forums suggested a complete refresh but on the understanding that I would lose all of my apps and docs AND that I would be returned to Win 8. In the Personalization settings, click on Themes and then on Windows image under the Themes title. Why did you feel the need to do the reset? Generally this is only recommended if you are having stability of performance issues or, you are selling the computer and want to clean it up. This is why your computer was not reset back to Windows 8.1. When you do a reset of a computer that has been upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 the ability to reset back to Windows 8.1 is only available for 30 days following the upgrade.
